Trees Riverview Succeeds Again!

Trees Riverview

Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry is not complete without the tremendous work of its residents who are passionate about various causes and issues. Dedicated to our green spaces, urban canopy, and climate resilience, Trees Riverview completed its second successful planting season – adding 44 trees to the Riverview community’s boulevards and public spaces.

Carol Thiessen shares that these trees include: Basswood, Ohio Buckeye, Delta Hackberry, Triumph Elm, Ivory Silk Tree Lilac, and Starlite Flowering Crabapple. Fifteen trees were also planted at the Riverview Community Centre, increasingly beautifying Riverview’s community hub.

I am happy to continue to support such an initiative with a Land Dedication Reserve grant in the amount of $12,298. Residents may recall that Trees Riverview planted 55 trees in 2021.

This commitment by Trees Winnipeg to climate resilience is one of the reasons why we continue to support Riverview residents (other than the fact that the community is filled with warm and amazing residents!)

I am always in awe of what Winnipeggers are able to do together. Keep up the good work, Riverview, and as your Councillor, I will be here to support your initiatives.

See Carol Thiessen’s blog for more information and accounts from the organizers:
