SURVEY: ANALYZING THE NEEDS
OF FRENCH-SPEAKING LGBTQ2 PERSONS IN MANITOBA
A research project conducted jointly by the Collectif LGBTQ* du Manitoba
and the Université de Saint-Boniface.
The Collectif LGBTQ* du Manitoba in collaboration with a team of researchers from the Université de Saint-Boniface and the Department of Family Medicine of the University of Manitoba, is conducting a study aiming to analyze the needs of LGBTQ2 French-speaking persons in Manitoba.
The study will allow them to better understand the experiences of LGBTQ2 Frenchspeaking persons in Manitoba, pertaining to their access to social and healthcare services, their perception of stigmatization or discrimination linked to language, gender identity and sexual orientation, and their social support needs.
Context and process
The current stage of this study consists of a survey geared to French speakers 18 years of age or older, who identify as members of the LGBTQ2 community and who reside in Manitoba.
This survey, conducted in French, takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, and is available either online (http://sondage.collectiflgbtq.ca/) or by requesting a paper copy by contacting Dr. Danielle de Moissac, Principal Investigator (204-237-1818 ext. 348; demoissac@ustboniface.ca).
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a draw to win one of two $50 gift cards to a retailer of their choice.
They currently accepting survey responses until July 6 th , 2020, inclusively.

The Collectif LGBTQ* du Manitoba was founded in January, 2019, and exists to support the health and
wellbeing of the French-speaking LGBTQ2 community in Manitoba while ensuring this community’s
security, as much in terms of sexual orientation and gender identity as in language and cultural identity.

Le Collectif LGBTQ* du Manitoba, en collaboration avec une équipe devchercheur.e.s de l’Université de Saint-Boniface et de l’Université du Manitoba, procède actuellement à l’analyse des besoins des membres de la communauté LGBTQ2 d’expression française au Manitoba.
Cette étude permettra de mieux comprendre l’expérience des personnes LGBTQ2 d’expression française
au Manitoba, quant à l’accès aux services sociaux et de santé, à leur perception de stigmatisation ou de
discrimination liée à la langue, à l’identité de genre et à l’orientation sexuelle, et à leurs besoins en
matière de soutien social.
Contexte et démarche
L’étape actuelle de cette étude consiste en un sondage destiné à toutes les personnes d’expression
française, de 18 ans et plus, qui s’identifient comme membre de la communauté LGBTQ2 et qui résident
au Manitoba. Le sondage prend environ 30 minutes à compléter et est disponible en ligne
(http://sondage.collectiflgbtq.ca/) ou en demandant une copie en format papier auprès de Danielle
de Moissac, chercheure principale (204-237-1818 poste 348; ddemoissac@ustboniface.ca).
Les participant.e.s auront la possibilité de participer au tirage d’une carte cadeau de 50 $ au commerce de
leur choix.
Nous faisons actuellement appel aux participant.e.s pour répondre au sondage d’ici le 6 juillet 2020
inclusivement.
