COVID-19: Community Resources if you need help

Posted on: April 3, 2020

It is normal to feel overwhelmed but there is help if you need it

As your city councillor, I am doing wellness checks with residents everyday.  While it is important to remember this pandemic is temporary, the reality is, many people are experiencing ups and downs:

  • Workplaces have gotten a lot more complicated.  Especially if you are an essential service worker, primary healthcare provider, fire fighter, paramedic, or work in a grocery store.
  • Over the last few weeks I’ve had many discussions with residents facing income and job loss, which can be worrisome for yourself and your families.
  • Staying at home is not easy. It can be difficult to be away from loved ones. Having increased work and home stress, as well as dealing with feelings of other family members in the home can take a toll.
  • Increased parenting demands with children having a wide range of emotions associated with coping with school closures.

It all adds up.

It is normal to feel anxious and overwhelmed.

If you need extra help here are a variety of community resources that can help you and that people have found really helpful:
