As Chair of the Human Rights Council Committee, I represented Winnipeg at the World Human Rights Cities Forum (WHRCF) in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.
Winnipeg joined cities such as Barcelona, Gdansk, and Vienna to share approaches to advancing human rights at the municipal level.
We showcased local initiatives like Amoowigamig, Naawi-Oodena, and Indigenous-led housing projects as examples of Winnipeg’s commitment to equity. The event emphasized decolonizing human rights, addressing gender-based violence, housing, and migration justice.
