It’s been a busy few weeks in City Hall as we discuss and pass the 2023 budget. We want to make this process as transparent, participatory, and accessible.
Today, the $1.3-billion budget passed at the special meeting of Council. As the adopted budget exemplifies, we are committed to priorities you care about including:
- Protecting and renewing Winnipeg’s tree canopy;
- Increasing the budget of 311 services by 25% to facilitate the recruitment of new staff and to retain existing staff;
- Supporting new investments in additional 24/7 spaces for unsheltered and at-risk residents;
- Increase transit service to its full service capacity prior to the pandemic;
- Establish neighbourhood action teams to complement the services provided by Public Works and other city departments;
- Restore the annual operating grant to the Winnipeg Arts Council;
- And continue support for the operations of the Downtown Community Safety Partnership.
