Another Milestone for Osborne Village Owner
Heather Shin, the owner of E-Mart Grocery, a local convenience store in Osborne Village, was issued a $20,000 city zoning and variance fee in her attempts to rebuild her store after it burnt down in 2021.
You may recall I had tabled a motion at Property and Development in September 2022, asking for the fee to be waived, which failed. I continued to advocate for Ms. Shin and passed the motion at Executive Policy Committee and Council.
At City Centre Committee on January 5th, the variance was approved, paving the way for Ms. Shin to rebuild. E-Mart Groceries was an important part of the Osborne Village neighbourhood, and residents will be celebrating its rebuilding.
