Community Clean Up a Big Success

Posted on: May 7, 2021

Saturday, April 24th many community members, whole families together with their children, gave up their Saturday in a profound act of care of the community and the riverbank.

Thank you to Twila Fillion a resident of Fort Rouge- East Fort Garry who brought the community together to assist with this Community Clean Up.  She brought together many from the cycling and running communities to clean up the trails along the Red River from the base of the Norwood Bridge to Togo Ave.   During the clean up day itself we received much appreciation from those riding or jogging by us on the trails and we have received many compliments at the office and we were asked to pass along thanks to those who assisted.

Thank you to the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 for coming out to support Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry on a Saturday and to local business owners Darryl Stewart of South Osborne Xchange Building for allowing the group to use his parking lot at 421 Mulvey Ave for pick up and to Joseph Chaeban for providing a sweet treat to the volunteers.

Thank you to Public Works Foreman Doug Reimer for the support to haul this all away.
