Neighbourhood greenways are on-street routes designated to comfortably and safely move pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles. Greenways typically include a range of treatments from low impact things like signage, bike signals and pavement markings to varying degrees of traffic calming including a best practice speed limit of 30 kms/hr.
The City plans to implement the pilot on Warsaw Ave from Thurso to Pembina Hwy in July. We have already been hearing positive feedback about the pilot project from those who live on Warsaw including excitement for new trees that will be planted along Warsaw Ave this spring (making it truly a “greenway”).
I encourage you to participate in the pre-pilot engagement program online now until May 14th (https://engage.winnipeg.ca/neighbourhood-greenway-reduced-speed-pilot) and French (https://participe.winnipeg.ca/projet-pilote-sur-les-rues-cyclables-a-vitesse-reduite).
