Update on Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project

Posted on: May 7, 2021

After extensive public engagement and consultation with neighbours in West Broadway and Wolseley, the long anticipated Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project is set to commence construction in mid June.

The Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project will improve travel choices, accessibility and connectivity.  It will build important new cycling and pedestrian infrastructure and finally connect the west end of the City with the downtown.

When completed this project will provide connections to the Omand's Creek pathway, the protected bicycle lane on Assiniboine Avenue and Sherbrook Street, the bike lane on Maryland Street, and the planned neighbourhood greenway on Ruby Street.

This work included adapting and making changes to the project informed through the engagement process.  I continue to discuss the project, including positive and negative anticipated outcomes with residents in West Broadway, Balmoral and more.

I continue to be excited and supportive of this project despite some very real disruptions to residents, in particular, along Balmoral Ave.

Both neighbourhoods stand to gain from the rebalancing towards pedestrian, rolling, cycling, and the transit environment.
